The Final Battleby ~RDbrony16

Inspired by Beowulf, fueled by me not reading it.

So, if you've never had the pleasure of reading Beowulf, there's a scene where Beowulf tells a story about him and one of his foes swimming in the ocean for days on end, fighting each other at the same time they are fighting terrible sea creatures. And, hearing about that scene got me thinking that I could possibly make a ponified version of that scene, with some slight altercations to the story.

In my version, both Rainbow and Lightning have been beat up by the creatures, under the control of Discord, who is trying to get revenge against Dash after how she and her friends treat him. Lightning Dust is only there because she was making amends with Rainbow before both of them were knocked unconscious by an unknown assailant. Both of them wake up to find that it is nighttime in a place where not even the stars are shining; Rainbow remembers what was happening before she was knocked out, but Lightning has lost her memory. Both have multiple wounds: large gashes and bruises in various places on their bodies, broken jaws, and black eyes. One of Rainbow's wings has been broken and the tip of Lightning Dust's ear has been cut off completely. Dash scrambles to her hooves best she can, but it's kind of hard to do considering she has a few broken legs. Lightning Dust slowly does the same. It is then that Discord shows himself, giving a monologue of how Dash has to pay for what has happened to him at the hooves of the Mane 6 and how he didn't mean to bring the "other pony" into this, but she'll pay too. Suddenly, the creatures surround the two pegasi, ready to complete Discord's task of revenge. Discord smirks with a chuckle, "It's been nice knowing you Rainbow Dash."
