It was a crisp, cool fall night, just a few days away from the Running of the Leaves. Everypony in Ponyville had turned out for the matchup that was about to take place.

"Welcome, everypony to tonight's featured Equestria Hoofball League matchup between the Ponyville Ponies and the Canterlot Knights!"

Spike's voice came over the speakers at the Apple Family Memorial Stadium on the edge of Ponyville, just past the Iron Pony training grounds. All of Ponyville had turned out for the game, hoping to see their team head to the Equestrian National Championship for the first time ever.
